Feel Good Friday: My Favorite Summer Looks

Good morning,

As I stand in front of my closet, looking in and picking out an outfit for the day, I can’t help but think back to all the fashion choices I’ve made over the years—from the pieces I’d never wear again to the articles of clothing that creep back into style every now and again.

From goth to girly and skater girl to business woman—I’ve worn it all. For me, fashion’s just always been about fun and expressing myself with different colors, patterns, and trends.

Now that I’m in my late 20s, I’ve really come to a point where my fashion sense is just simply, well, me. If you ask my friends and family, that means lots of color and flowy pieces. What can I say, I love fashion that catches the eye! And for me these days, I’m way more about the quality of a piece that anything else. (I still love a good deal, but I’ll also spend on something I just can’t part with in a store.)

What does my style look like? What trends speak to me?

Today, I’m sharing what my closet looks like inside with these snapshots of my favorite summer outfits.

Floral skirt and striped crop top:

I first wore this ensemble at my 28th birthday at Malibu Wines. When I paired the pieces together I wasn’t sure if it would work, but once I tried it on, the contrast of the stripes and floral design popped!I feel so girly in this outfit and I feel like the shape of the tight top along with the flowy skirt is very flattering, no matter your shape and size.

Dusty velour pink slinky dress:

Va-va-voom.

An hour before my LA Bachelorette Party, I sat in my room with nothing to wear (that’s not true, but you know that feeling when you feel like nothing you have looks good on?)

Anyway, I ran out to Nordstrom Rack (luckily, right down the street) and found this lovely item. I didn’t have time to try it on, so it was definitely an out-on-a-whim buy.[gallery ids="5287,5286" type="rectangular"]

Luckily, it fit and I have to say, I think it fit the occasion quite nicely! Plus, how can you not be comfortable in velour?!

Pink and blue floral dress:

20170531_200720_resizedFloral’s my thing I guess—in the summer, anyway. This dress I just couldn’t pass up. When I was shopping with my good friend at Banana Republic, we both actually ended up walking away with this dress. I mean, how could we not?!20170531_200645_resizedThe colors, divine. The fit, super girly. And the pockets, please and thanks!

Off-the-shoulder jumper:

I’ve only ever owned one jumper and it did NOT fit me well. Haha! I just loved the idea of slipping into an easy one-piece outfit. Even though that was an epic fail, I wasn't about to give up on the trend...

Target sometimes surprises me with their cute clothing options. When I found this piece, I knew I had to have it.  At only $30, it was a steal and something I could see myself in all summer long. It’s rare that I can find something that makes my short frame look long, but this does just that! Sam even said that my legs appear super long in this navy one-piece.

Casual denim button up and black pants:

When I saw this TJ Maxx top, I knew I had to have it. A soft denim with a lovely print, rolled sleeves and just the right length. It pairs well with just about anything because the pattern isn’t too overwhelming.Lately, I’ve been pairing it with a black straight leg from Nordstrom Rack that has a subtle print itself. Together, I really like the cool, effortless feel of this outfit.
