Maine: The Way Life Should Be
Hey guys! How are you?!
It’s just about Friday and the start of the long Labor Day weekend 🙂 Hopefully you’re doing something fun. I’m looking forward to lots of R&R.
Sam and I got back from our east coast trip last Sunday and we’re still reflecting on how much fun and special our visit was. (They always are.)
If you remember from my last post, we headed back to New England for two major things this time—a big family trip in Maine (my happy place) and my best friend Rebecca’s wedding in Massachusetts.
To sum it up: both were extra AMAZING!
M A I N E
Where to begin…
Not only was I longing for Maine already (it had been 3 years since my last trip there), but this time was super exciting because it was going to be a trip with both our families. I already have countless memories in Maine with my own family and now I can say I have them with Sam’s too. Stuff like that makes me 🙂 🙂 🙂
Anyway, we headed up to Maine the morning after our flight back. It was about a 2.5 hour drive and along the way, I kept seeing milestones and landscapes that had meaning to me—familiar highway signs, beautiful bridges, rain storms, Massachusetts license plates, and quaint storefronts.
The anticipation of just getting there was killing me—in a good way.
Once we arrived, I couldn’t stop smiling. There were so many things I wanted to do while I was there.
– Have a Congdon’s donut (or two) P.S. Sam’s favorite is the Maple Cream. It’s pretty damn good!
– Enjoy a bonfire with s’mores
– Have a couple beach days
– Enjoy Kennebunkport and all the cute little shops
– Visit Wells (another beautiful town I frequented as a child and adult)
– Have some local seafood
– Lounge and be lazy with our fams (key)
I’m happy to say, ALL of this and more was accomplished!
We enjoyed a bunch of family meals together—including casual backyard BBQs, a seafood dinner, and a yummy breakfast in Kennebunkport—and also got to play the game Speak Out (hilarious), enjoy the beach, and walk around a bunch.
This is what Speaking Out looks like… LOL.. in case you were wondering.
This game is ridiculous.
Seriously though, every part of my 4 days up there was so fun, relaxing, and carefree.
Ahhh, Maine: The Way Life Should Be.
Let me share some highlights from the trip. I think these perfectly capture just how much I love Maine, my family, and life.
Oh, and someone got their hands on a Maple Cream donut…
(My dad had a baker’s dozen waiting for us upon arrival. Now, THAT’S a great dad right there!)
Wells, Maine: I grew up going here and this beach will always have a special place in my heart.
Oh. My. ❤️.
How can a place hold so much meaning?
I feel so fulfilled having been there. It was a long time coming and I’m so grateful to have been able to sneak in a few days there this summer.
Summer 2018 — you’ve been a JOY.
Celebrating life will always be a priority for me. I keep telling Sam… we gotta keep traveling and living it up while we can (that wasn’t supposed to sound morbid AT ALL, haha). We only get this one life. We might as well go where we want to go, see what we want to see, and be with those we love.
What makes your heart happy?
Listen to it and do that.
I’ll be recapping Rebecca’s wedding next on the blog, so stay tuned!
Have a lovely long weekend friends,
Ari
