The Baby Products I Couldn’t Live Without During The First Month

Hi friends!

How are things going?!

It’s been a minute since I’ve written… you could say life is a little busy right now 😂… between sleepless nights, feedings, pumping, resting, and doctor appointments.

Being a new mom is no joke. I’ve never been more tired… and more in love. Nothing really could have prepared me for this new life chapter. No books, no advice, no nothing.

I seriously can’t believe Henry’s been with us for a month now. Wow. The fact that July has come and gone is mind-blowing to me. Craziest/busiest/most exhausting month of my life. Yet also the most amazing and loving one too. 😋

Not only was July busy because we welcomed our baby boy, it was also overwhelming because my parents and I got in a car accident on the way to the airport (we’re all okay – other than some bumps and bruises – and Henry was luckily home with Sam), and the whole ordeal and all the aftermath, well, sucked. 😕

It threw everything off for us. My car, which I had just paid off after 5 years, was totaled and we had to rush and purchase a new car while my parents extended their stay to help us out more. Totally an unexpected and crappy situation to have especially with a 2-week old, but we found a great family car and tried to see the glass half-full (we were all ok, we would have a larger/newer car, and we got money from our insurance co. to help put a nice down payment on our Honda CRV).

All that aside, July was a huge learning experience for me as a new mom. During my pregnancy, helpful moms I know shared their favorite baby products with me, but it wasn’t until Henry was actually here and I was in “the zone” that I realized which items I truly needed/worked for us.

As they say… every baby is different. Some things I thought I would use, I didn’t. And some products I thought Henry would love, he could have done without.

Here are the products I’ve loved during Henry’s first month on earth:

Dock-A-Tot
This product wasn’t on our registry (honestly… it was on the pricier side so that’s why I didn’t add it), but I was SO happy when we received it from our cousins. Henry loves to lounge and nap in it and it’s so great to be able to put him down somewhere safe when we have to go in the kitchen or bathroom. I think he enjoys how it keeps him cradled with its higher sides.

Medela Breast Pump
I’ve been pumping… a lot. And, this double pump has served me well. You can adjust the speed/intensity.

Suveno Diaper Backpack
love having a diaper backpack instead of an over-the-shoulder one for Henry’s things. Super convenient, tons of storage, insulted bottle compartments and easy-to-access pouches for wipes, diapers and other must-haves.

Simple Wishes Signature Hands Free Pumping Bra
When my friend (also a new mama) told me about this hands-free pumping bra, I knew I had to have it. It has made life so much easier. I can pump and be on my laptop or eat a quick meal. No more holding my pump in place. Good-bye to those days!

OXO Tot Perfect Wipe Dispenser
We love this. In the middle of messy diaper changes, it’s awesome to be able to tap this dispenser for a quick sanitary wipe. Those middle-of-the-night changes are way easier with this too. No fumbling around, and the wipes never dry out.

Aden and Anais Muslin Swaddle Blankets
So soft, so pretty, so snuggly. Henry loves being wrapped up in these.

Halo Sleepsack
His favorite. He can have his arms by his side or up near his face. We love that it velcros him in, nice and snug.

Diaper Genie
Honestly, I didn’t think we really needed this item but it’s been really nice to be able to toss diapers right into it, day and night, instead of piling/smelling up our kitchen trashcan with them.

Babyganics Alcohol-Free Foaming Hand Sanitizer
Again… another product I love because of its convenience. After those diaper changes, this pump hand sanitizer is right there for clean hands. Anything that saves time and energy, I love.

Hatch Baby Rest Sound Machine and Night Light
The perfect nightlight and sound machine that can be controlled by an app on your phone. You can set timers, colors, and songs. I like to set songs for him to fall asleep to on a short timer, so that I can also get some zzz’s and not worry about it running all night.

My Brestfriend Pillow
This one’s been my fave. I dig how it clips at the side and has soft pillow inserts to support Henry’s small frame. Plus, it’s easy to unzip and wash after he spits up on it.

Infant Optics DXR-8 Video Baby Monitor with Interchangeable Optical Lens
Even though we’re in a small apartment, there’s peace of mind that comes with seeing our lil guy napping soundly on this monitor from the other room. You can zoom in, change the angle and the volume… and TALK to him through it. Yes, technology is cool!

Water Bottles with Straws
So basic but having a water bottle with a straw bedside while nursing/feeding/burping is a lifesaver. No spills and easy to grab and sip. I feel like a camel these days…. soooo thirsty.

Extra-Long Burp Cloths
For all those messy burps that cover you front to back, haha. The more surface area covered, the better.

Fisher-Price Deluxe Kick & Play Piano Gym
The music is catchy! And, the bright piano keys are the perfect backdrop for tummy time.

Lactation Cookies
So yummy and easy to grab for a late-night snack to keep that milk supply up!

Do you have any of these products?! What things could you not live without during your baby’s first month?

As I head into Months 2 and 3, I’d love to know what items you are into. Bring on the reccs, mamas!
