Meet Me On The Mat: Give Yourself Some Credit
Hiiiiii!!Weekends are glorious, right? This past weekend was definitely the best of both worlds when it comes to mixing fun and relaxing. Before sharing this week’s mantra, here’s a quick look back at my weekend.FRIDAY a bunch of my work friends and I all went out to karaoke in K-town. It was a definite blast to say the least. We had our own private room which let us belt out of favorite past hits in total seclusion haha!I think I was a little rusty with my vocals... I gotta practice some more. It's been awhile sing I sang that much.We ended up at The Normandie Club after for some really great craft cocktails and convo.Love my friends!SATURDAY was pretty chill. After getting some rest, I did some errands and hung around with Sam.We've been trying to figure out our Labor Day Weekend plans since we have that Monday off. We try to take advantage of those kinds of weekends since they are few and far between. In the past we've gone on some road trips to San Diego, Temecula, Monterey, Sequoia, and Big Bear.California never ceases to amaze me! There are so many cool areas to explore within 2-6 hours—from beaches, to mountains, to dessert. We're sortaaaa leaning toward Yosemite, which is about a six hour drive north. I really want to see the Redwoods.I'll keep you posted!Later on Saturday, we went with some friends to Glendale’s Annual Cruise Night for some food, fireworks, and live music. They basically shut down the entire main street—Brand Blvd.—and welcome vendors and visitors to take over the open area all night. We were greeted in a bar by this amazing lil pup...... I laughed so hard.Cruise Night is definitely a super "towny" kind of event but that's what I love about it. You don't have to go too far for a good time.Afterwards, we hung out with our friends for a bit back at their place before calling it a night.SUNDAY we relaxed a bit at home. There wasn't too much going on here other than errands...We ended up going to see The Big Sick later in the day and really liked it! It was just enough romance for me and comedy for Sam ;)Then we went and got some sushi in Montrose, which I had been craving for a couple weeks now. We got their "Pebbles" and "The Dream Team" rolls and split some gyoza.Okay, now onto this week's mantra...MEET ME ON THE MAT: Give Yourself Some CreditIt’s easy to be the toughest critic when it comes to turning the lens on yourself and your own life.We tend to magnify the negative and brush aside the positive. Why is that? This week, I want to encourage you to just give yourself some credit.Pat yourself of the back for once instead of being the tough critic.Give yourself a break when it comes to your appearance, job situation, financial issues, family dynamics, past mistakes, uneasy relationships, and/or confusing life path. Whatever it is that's holding you down, allow yourself—even if just for one week—to let that burden go and simply, walk a little lighter knowing you have a lot of GOOD in your life.Stop overanalyzing your life to the point where you can't enjoy it.I know that I personally don't always give myself enough credit but I'm really trying to be better about that lately and lighten up on myself. And, you know? It feels good... Try it for yourself! Thanks for stopping by!Have an amazing day,AriMore of my other recent posts:What To Expect Out Of Your First Yoga ClassMeet Me On The Mat: Who Cares?Feel Good Friday: Worry Less, Smile MoreWhat I’m Wicked Into: Foodie GirlMeet Me On The Mat: Move Everyday10 Tough Life Lessons You Learn In Your Twenties
